Facelift & Neck Surgery
A facelift, known as a “Rhytidectomy”, will not halt the aging process, however it can restore the skin’s appearance by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and reshaping the skin on the face and neck. As with most facial surgery this can be done as a standalone procedure, or in combination with other procedures one of the most common being a neck lift.
In many cases sagging skin on the lower half of the face is accompanied by sagging skin under the chin and down into the neck area. In these cases, it is often necessary to perform a neck lift in order to achieve the desired result from a facelift.
A neck lift, known as a “Platysmaplasty”, is a surgical procedure during which excess, loose skin along the jaw line and on the neck itself, is surgically removed and the remaining skin is tightened to produce a smoother, wrinkle-free neck and jaw line giving a brighter more youthful appearance.
This procedure can also be used to remove excess skin following substantial weight loss or reduction of skin elasticity due to genetics, sun damage or treatment for illness.
Using fine threads under the skin, the surgeon can lift the skin of the face, neck and eyebrows. The procedure requires only local anaesthetic and takes less than an hour to complete – with repeatable results, that are normally visible immediately.
With a 1 stitch face lift you will notice an immediate and discreet lifting effect, followed by ongoing skin regeneration because the procedure stimulates the natural production of collagen in the months that follow for progressive and natural results.
A 1 stitch lift is great for short term improvement however it will yield a visible improvement for approximately 18 months after which it can be redone if required.
